PATIENT UPDATE - 02/04/2021

Our next COVID vaccine delivery is expected on 12 April 2021. We will be contacting patients in the Over 70 age group next week to schedule their Dose 1. We will also be administering Dose 2 to our patients aged Over 80. All our patients over age 85 are now fully vaccinated with Dose 1 and Dose 2. We are progressing well and strictly in accordance with the instructions from the HSE. All patients over the age of 70 have received / will receive the Pfizer BionTech vaccine.

We have also opted-in to the programme to vaccinate cohort 4a, ie those aged between 18 and 69 at Very High Risk of Severe COVID Disease. The vaccine approved for this patient group is Astra Zeneca and we await further information from the HSE on the logistics of the roll out to this category. We will post updated information once we know more.

While we are involved in this vital vaccination programme, the amount of clinical time available for all other GP work has obviously been reduced. Patients will therefore find that appointments are not always available within the timeframe they are used to. Urgent & emergency situations will be prioritised as always but there is now a longer than usual wait for routine appointments.

We would ask our patients for their continued patience and co-operation during this period while we manage this unprecedented demand on our services.

Thank You.

PATIENT UPDATE - 25/03/2021

Our COVID-19 vaccine clinics are now up and running and, subject to ongoing delivery of vaccines by the HSE, we expect to administer 1st vaccine doses for patients aged 75 - 80 by end-March and for patients aged 70 - 75 by mid-April.

We have put a patient vaccine information pack together - see the above links. This is important information and patients are asked to access and familiarise themselves with the content and follow the instructions. We appreciate your co-operation in this regard as we work together to roll out this logistically challenging service. As always, our Receptionists are available to help with any queries or difficulties you may have. Tel: 021 4892996.

PATIENT UPDATE - 22/01/2021

Some information is starting to filter through about the roll-out of the COVID vaccine to the wider community via GP practices. While we still await confirmation of many specific details, it is generally anticipated that this vaccination programme will commence circa mid-February 2021 and that the AstraZeneca vaccine is the make that will be administered.. Per Government / Public Health instructions, Phase I is for patients aged over 70, starting with the oldest and working down to the younger end of the group in 5 year increments, ie first the over 85s, next the over 80s, then the over 75s and lastly the over 70s. GPs have no say in this distribution system - these are the instructions received from the HSE and they are non-negotiable. We are still working on the logistics of our plan to actually deliver the vaccines to our patients but we can confirm the following now:

  1. Vaccination will be by appointment ONLY.
  2. A consent form must be signed before receiving the vaccine.
  3. Your medical card number or PPS number is necessary.
  4. After the vaccine, patients must wait for 15 minutes to ensure no adverse reaction.
  5. The AstraZeneca COVID vaccine is a double-dose vaccine with the 2nd dose approx. 3 weeks after the 1st.
  6. The vaccine is free to all.

Further communications will follow regarding appointments and specific vaccine information in the coming weeks. As yet, no information is available in relation any category other than the over 70s but as and when further detail does become available, we will continue to publish updates.

PATIENT UPDATE - 14/01/2021

COVID-19 VACCINE: It is very good news that the COVID vaccine is now a reality and will be rolled out to the Irish population in the coming weeks and months. While we understand many of you are keen to receive the vaccine, we have not yet been given any information as to when we are likely to receive a supply for our registered patients. Internally, we are working on a vaccination plan which will prioritise our most vulnerable patients. For this reason, we are not currently operating a waiting list.

We will continue to post updates here and to our FaceBook page as soon as more information becomes available to us. In the meantime, stay safe, follow Public Health guidance and don't hesitate to contact us by phone on 4892996 for advice, COVID- related or otherwise.

COVID-19

The arrival of COVID-19 in Ireland at the start of March 2020 has led to huge changes in the way GPs work and we have had to adjust the operation of our Practice. This section aims to keep patients informed of our new ways of working, ongoing Public Health advice, Government restrictions and any other information we feel is beneficial or helpful.

Firstly, we would like to clarify the operation of our services for the foreseeable future:

Don't be afraid to stay in touch - just pick up the phone and we'll be happy to help as best we can with any aspect of your health, as we always have in the past.
